A Professional Team from Design through Construction
Sentient Architecture is a limited liability corporation (LLC) formed in early 2005 by its Managing Partner, Christopher K. Travis and commercial architect, Brett Pitt. Mr. Travis was the lead designer for residential and historic projects and Mr. Pitt ran their commercial practice. Mr. Travis is also the developer of a method for using psychology and human factors science to develop design for living and works spaces that are tailored to the exact tastes, lifestyle, values, priorities, budget and psychological needs related to space that are important to the design of those projects. Travis relocated his business to Colorado in 2015, and no longer practices within his architecture firm, but rather designs and builds projects in the mountain foothills of Denver, Colorado via his design.build firm, Truehome Design.Build.
He continues to take design projects in South Central Texas where his firm originated – Fayette, Washington, Lee, Colorado, Austin and Bastrop Counties – but no longer builds in that market. His primary work since 2015 is centered in the mountain foothills associated with Denver, Colorado and Southwest Denver. He has offices in both Pine, Colorado and Evergreen, Colorado.
In 2010, Mr. Pitt left the firm to form his own architecture firm, then subsequently merged with Merriman Associates. Brett Pitt remains a close friend of the Travis family but is no longer involved in the firm. The next architect of record for Sentient Architecture, LLC was Wilson Robertson who also works with Mr. Pitt at Merriman.
Since that time Mr. Travis has not practiced within his formal architecture firm but returned to his historical design/build practice as Truehome Design.Build. Previously, Mr. Travis served as managing partner of Round Top Architecture, working with registered professionals Larry Peden and Matt Morris.
The firms led by Mr. Travis focused historically on designing and building indigenous, energy efficient, tailored residential, historic and commercial projects throughout Central & South Texas, often collaborating with his eldest son, registered green builder Shiloh Travis, to serve the Austin, Texas environs as a design/build team.
Travis is best known for his unique approach to developing criteria for residential designs that combines psychology and architecture to produce living spaces that fit both the conscious and unconscious priorities and history of his clients. You can learn more about that on Wikipedia.
Combined, the partners had over 50 years of experience in the architecture, design, and construction industries. Christopher K. Travis manages the design projects done by Truehome Design.Build in South Central Texas and Colorado.
